‘Ant-Man And The Wasp’ Opens To $76M in North America

by: James A. Barnes

‘Ant-Man and The Wasp’ scored $76M in its opening weekend at the domestic box office. The film also opening to $85M at the international box office. The first Ant-Man film opened to $57.2M in it’s opening weekend and went on to gross $519M Worldwide.

‘Ant-Man and The Wasp’ is the 20th film in the MCU to date and takes place after the events of “Captain America: Civil War” and before the events of “Avengers: Infinity War”.

In the film, Scott is confronted by Hope and Hank with an urgent new mission to save Hope’s mother Janet Van Dyne from the quantum realm while trying to stop the film’s antagonist Ghost from stealing Hank’s tech for her own personal gain.

I enjoyed the film a lot more that the first Ant-Man and I thought the de-aging technology used in the movie was the best I’ve seen to date.

Although I found Ghost’s motivations to be generic, I thought Hannah John-Kamen did a great job bringing the villain to life.

Evangeline Lily was amazing as The Wasp and watching her fight side by side with Ant-Man was really cool to watch.

The best parts of the film for me were the scenes between Scott and Cassie. I thought their chemistry brought some genuine heart to the film in between all the action and the comedy.

The film stars Paul Rudd (Scott Lang/Ant-Man), Evangeline Lily (Hope Van Dyne/The Wasp), Michael Douglas (Hank Pym) , Michelle Pfieffer (Janet Van Dyne), Michael Pena (Luis), Walton Goggins (Sonny Burch), Hannah John-Kamen (Ava/Ghost), Lawrence Fishburne (Bill Foster) Randall Park (Jim Woo), T.I. (Dave), David Dastmalchian (Kurt), and Abby Ryder Fortson (Cassie).
