31 Days Of Halloween 2022

It’s time for ‘31 Days Of Halloween’ 2022!!

Every day this month the C4S crew will recommend one horror movie that you should be watching this Halloween Season!!

Day 1: Barbarian (2022)

“Barbarian” was incredible.

I went in completely blind and was blown away by Zach Cregger’s direction, the film is filled with chilling moments of tension, brilliant camera work, and lighting, and is exactly the kind of horror movie that studios should be aspiring to make.

- JB

Day 2: Mimic (1997)

Hear me out, I KNOW this involves cockroaches & that's NASTYYY. So please, don't watch this while eating. Nonetheless, Guillermo Del Toro gives us a nightmare look at one of the most indestructible creatures in the world.

- Abe

Day 3: The Autopsy of Jane Doe (2016)

'The Autopsy of Jane Doe' is a horror film that people don't talk about enough.

I went in completely blind and was really impressed by how the script slowly revealed the mysteries surrounding Jane Doe.

- JB

Day 4: Halloweentown II (2001)

We enjoy a good family film and this is my FAVE in the series. So watch the first “Halloweentown” film and then enjoy Marnie Vs. KALABAR in “Halloweentown II” Lol, I just love that name.

Imagine a world where Halloween is REAL but it isn't SCARY.

- Abe

Day 5: Insidious: Chapter 2 (2013)

After the first film's epic cliffhanger ending, I was insanely excited for Chapter 2 and the film didn't disappoint.

I loved the film's exploration of Parker Crane's origins and his obsession with Josh.

- JB

Day 6: Chucky Series (2021 - Present)

Don’t worry about the 7 Chucky films TOO much. Season 1 provides enough info for new and old fans. Who doesn’t enjoy an asshole doll obsessed with murder? Especially when he makes SOME good points and some fun one liners.

Season 2 dropped yesterday btw! All Hail!

- Abe

Day 7: The Others (2001)

On the surface 'The Others' may seem like your typical haunted house movie but it goes so much deeper than that and has one of my favorite twist endings in any horror movie.

- JB

Day 8: Hellraiser (1987)

Clive Barker really showed me the thin line between pleasure and pain when he introduced the world to Pinhead and the Cenobites.

You won't regret the OG film and I'm excited for the Hulu remake!

- Abe

Day 9: Life (2017)

“Life” is a criminally underrated film.

It has a great script, it’s claustrophobic, the VFX are immaculate, and Calvin is one of the most unique and terrifying movie monsters I’ve ever seen.

It has a high resistance to extreme temperatures, superhuman strength, accelerated growth, superhuman-level intelligence, absorption, and the ability to transform its cells into any type of cell.

- JB

Day 10: Twitches (2005)

Tia and Tamera Mowry gave life to the twin witches I grew up reading thanks to the creative minds of H.B. Gilmour & Randi Reisfeld in the Twitches fantasy series. Black witches are always a vibe and while not scary, it’s a fun film to watch with the family! Believe in the power of Two!

- Abe

Day 11: A Nightmare On Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors (1987)

Dream Warriors is easily the 2nd best film in the “A Nightmare on Elm Street” franchise. It has some really good kills, a great new cast of characters, and features some of Freddy’s best one-liners.

This is it, Jennifer. Your big break in TV. Welcome to prime time, bitch!”

- JB

Day 12: The Faculty (1998)

Frodo ain't in the Shire no mo! This was my 1st time seeing Elijah Wood outside of “The Lord of the Rings” and I LOVED it.

What's better than aliens passing ya teachers, coaches and...(redacted!?)

Also, hi Usher LMAO!

- Abe

Day 13: The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It (2021)

When we first got word that James Wan wasn’t going to return to direct the third Conjuring movie, I wasn’t sure what to expect from the film. I was really worried that the film’s director wouldn’t be able to capture the same magic that Wan put into the first two films but after seeing and experiencing what Michael Chaves had to offer, it became my second favorite movie of the trilogy.

- JB

Day 14: Phantom at the Megaplex (2000)

Disney Channel really did fill my youth with fun Halloween-themed projects and this is up there with the best of em! A haunted theater sounds like fun.

- Abe

Day 15: Halloween II (1981)

Although I think that Halloween (2018) is the superior sequel to Halloween (1978), ‘Halloween II’ was a great follow-up to the first film, it slightly expanded the mythos, and features some great kills!

- JB

Day 16: The Mist (2007)

A creepy mist rolls into a small town but what resides in that mist? How do people react to strange phenomena? Plus the ending actually made me laugh.

- Abe

Day 17: Before I Wake (2016)

Ever wondered what it would be like if you could bring your dreams to life? Look no further than Mike Flanagan’s “Before I Wake”.

Over the course of the film, we quickly learn that not only does Cody have the ability to bring his dreams to life, but also his worse nightmares.

- JB

Day 18: Escape Room (2019)

Saw popularized the blueprint but this film was fun to watch. Each trap was creative and thrilling. Hell, had me itching to experience a less fatal version (& I did!).

Sometimes, we just wanna see creative destruction.

- Abe

Day 19: Shaun of the Dead (2004)

‘Shaun of the Dead’ is my favorite Horror-Comedy of all time and was one of my first exposures to Edgar Wright as a director.

I love the cast, the film is hilarious, and it makes fun of all of the best and worst zombie movie troupes from over the years.

- JB

Day 20: American Horror Story: Murder House (2011)

A series that would take us by storm, AHS has become one of the most exciting horror anthologies to grace our screens. Murder House set a strong tone that only got better with Asylum, Coven, Hotel and more. Evan Peters, thank you!

- Abe

Day 21: Midsommar (2019)

Ari Aster directed one of the greatest horror movies ever made with “Hereditary” and his follow-up film “Midsommar” did not disappoint.

Florence Pugh turns an incredible performance and I loved the film’s exploration of the Swedish cult and the different ways that people deal with grief and loss.

- JB

Day 22: Thirteen Ghosts (2001)

A remake of the 1960 film, this provided a fun and gory depiction of the Zodiac signs. Tony Shaloub did his thing and when I tell you that I re-watch annually, babyyyyy!

- Abe

Day 23: A Quiet Place: Part II (2021)

“A Quiet Place Part II” is one of the best horror movie sequels of all time.

It increases the stakes, expands the world, and introduces new and interesting characters and elements to the universe.

Emily Blunt shines once again as the badass Evelyn Abbott trying to find survivors while trying to keep her family safe from the vicious Death Angels.

- JB

Day 24: 28 Days Later (2002)

You thought we left zombie films off bad & boujie!? Cillian Murphy thinks otherwise! What happens when you wake up in a hospital during an apocalypse? Find out!

- Abe

Day 25: Lights Out (2016)

David F. Sandberg took a simple premise and our natural fear of the dark and crafted a good story with really good scares.

- JB

Day 26: Silent Hill (2006)

I fell in love with Pyramid Head.

In honor of all the new Silent Hill announcements for the future (including a new movie!), let’s revisit a quaint town lost and forgotten, where night time brings the most vile of terrors.

Careful...

- Abe

Day 27: Curse of Chucky (2013)

“Curse of Chucky” breathed new life into the Child’s Play franchise and took Chucky back to basics as he terrorizes Nica and her family to get revenge on her mother.

- JB

Day 28: Guillermo del Toro's Cabinet of Curiosities (2022)

del Toro did the damn thing with this exquisite horror anthology series presenting new and refreshing tales from demon-worshipping to freakin mutant rats and everything in between!

Head to #Netflix, you wont regret it

- Abe

Day 29: Jeepers Creepers (2001)

The Creeper haunted my dreams for days after I saw the film for the first time.

It’s tens of thousands of years old and surfaces every 23rd spring to feast on human flesh for 23 days.

- JB

Day 30: Scream 2 (1997)

Someone has taken their love of sequels a step TOO far.

Ever wonder the rules of slashers once the sequel drops? Let Randy enlighten you and Sidney fight for you.

Happy Hallow's Eve everyone!

- Abe

Day 31: Halloween Kills (2021)

“Halloween Kills” gave me everything I wanted and was a great follow up to “Halloween” (2018).

I went in looking for absolute carnage and the film gave us some of the best kills of the entire franchise.

- JB
