On Tuesday, Bungie held a live stream event on Twitch hosted by Community Manager Deej and a slew of developers representing different aspects of the game for the upcoming Warmind DLC out May 8th.

Guardians will return to Mars for the first time since Destiny 1 in a new area. After the Martian Icecaps begin to melt and expose parts of a facility that houses Rasputin, the Frozen Hive are trying to gain access to the facility. In the teaser we see Ana Bray finally make her entrance after being only a character from grimoire cards and deep Destiny lore about Clovis Bray, the scientific researcher company of which she bears the name.

The Twitch event featured little when it comes to the story details of the expansion or its length but offered more information on endgame content. The new social area on Mars called Hellas Basin that will host a new type of player-initiated public event called Escalation Protocol in numerous areas according to the developers. The event will have 7 waves with increasingly difficult enemies, special relics that can be used in battle, and will drop event exclusive loot. At the 7th wave, there will be a weekly rotation of 5 different bosses Guardians will face that will have their own unique loot drops on top of the drops that Escalation Protocol will have at the end of waves 3 and 5.

On top of loot themed around the Expansion (weapons, armor sets, Ghost shells, etc.), there will be either new or returning Exotics for Guardians to find. One popular Exotic to return is the Suros Regime auto rifle. The Twitch stream also included a showcase of current Exotics that have gone through reworks that beforehand, the community deemed were a bit… lacking.

Crucible will have new features for its Competitive playlist. Introducing two different playlist, Valor for those that want a challenge but not risk their ranking and Glory for those that want an extra challenge of ranking that will rise or fall depending on wins and losses. The best guardians will be able to earn a PvP exclusive weapon for competing at the highest levels of the Glory playlist that will rotate at the end of each season.
