4 Crime Dramas You Should Be Watching Right Now

by: James A. Barnes

I’ve been re-watching a few of my favorite crime dramas recently and wanted to share a few that I think you’ll love.

There’s something so cool about watching a master detective using their skills of deduction to follow the evidence and bring criminals to justice.

LUTHER (2010 - Present)

ROTTEN TOMATOES: 88% CRITIC RATING | 87% AUDIENCE RATING

“Luther” is hands down the best crime drama series in my opinion and it’s not even close. From Idris Elba’s captivating performance as DCI John Luther to the writing, this series has given us one of the best detectives ever put to screen.

Sherlock (2010 - Present)

ROTTEN TOMATOES: 78% CRITIC RATING | 80% AUDIENCE RATING

I’m sure a lot of people would agree when I say that Benedict Cumberbatch was born to play Sherlock Holmes. Each episode in the series plays out like a feature length film and the series’ brilliant writing and editing keeps the viewer on the edge of their seat as they try to solve the mystery alongside the great detective.

The Fall (2013 - 2016)

ROTTEN TOMATOES: 86% CRITIC RATING | 86% AUDIENCE RATING

Gillian Anderson and Jamie Dornan are absolutely incredible in this psychological thriller that follows a serial killer in Belfast, Northern Ireland, and a detective from the London Metropolitan Police tasked to catch him and bring him to justice.

Broadchurch (2013 - 2017)

ROTTEN TOMATOES: 92% CRITIC RATING | 92% AUDIENCE RATING

Rounding out this list is “Broadchurch”. I fell in love with David Tennant as an actor when I saw him portray the 10th Doctor on “Doctor Who” and after his turn ended, I wanted to consume every piece of media I could find with him in it and I stumbled upon one of the greatest crime dramas ever made.
