The studio behind episodic games like “The Walking Dead” and “The Wolf Among Us” is seemingly shutting down.

The company has made massive layoffs with individuals formerly employed by Telltale posting on social media or telling others in private that they are looking for work. The company is said to be currently operating with a small crew of 25. The manner of which the layoffs were done came to a shock to everyone as up to a week ago, it is said that Telltale was still interviewing applicants for open positions. Laid off developers were also not given any form of severance when they were dismissed.

Telltales Games has released a statement on the news via their Twitter:

Telltale Games will release Episode 2 of The Walking Dead: The Final Season but the remaining episodes will not be released. The remaining 25 employees will be working on Minecraft: Story Mode, an interactive game in conjunction with Netflix.

We are saddened by news about Telltale Games,” Netflix said in a statement. “They developed many great games in the past and left an indelible mark in the industry. Minecraft: Story Mode is still moving forward as planned. We are in the process of evaluating other options for bringing the Stranger Things universe to life in an interactive medium.
