The film is being produced by Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal and sees the return of Jon Watts back in the director's chair from the script of Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley. Tom Holland is reprising his role as Peter Parker/Spider-Man and Zendaya (MJ) and Marisa Tomei (Aunt May) have also been confirmed to return.

If Gyllenhaal signs on for the role, this will mark his first appearance in a comic book movie. Gyllenhaal was recently in talks to play Batman in the upcoming Matt Reeves Batman trilogy but negotiations fell through. Jake Gyllenhaal is an incredibly talented actor in my opinion, and I trust in Kevin Feige and the writers to come up with a good story surrounding Spider-Man and Mysterio.

Mysterio (Quentin Beck) first appeared in Amazing Spider-Man #13 in 1964, Beck was a successful stunt man and special effects designer in Hollywood; As time went on Beck felt he wasn't being given the recognition he deserved for his work. This lead to Beck on his path to becoming the villain Mysterio.
