Luke Cage Cancelled by Netflix

Netflix has cancelled a second Marvel show this week as they announce that Luke Cage will not return to protect the streets of Harlem for a 3rd season. Netflix announced that they will not bring back Iron Fist earlier this week.

Unfortunately, ‘Marvel’s Luke Cage’ will not return for a third season. Everyone at Marvel Television and Netflix is grateful to the dedicated showrunner, writers, cast and crew who brought Harlem’s Hero to life for the past two seasons, and to all the fans who have supported the series.

Netflix cancelling Iron Fist and Luke Cage may be a hint at one of two future plans for the Marvel Television heroes. 1: Cancelled for a re-introduction as the superhero duo Heroes of Hire, the title of the 1997 comic book series of the same name. 2: Disney may be freeing up their intellectual properties as part of gearing up for the debut of their own streaming service. Other Marvel characters like Loki and Scarlett Witch are already rumored to be getting shows on the upcoming service. Regaining full control of two more Marvel characters would add more depth to their catalogue and they could even possibly do either “Heroes for Hire” on their service or keep the two separate.

That leaves The Punisher, Jessica Jones, and Daredevil as the remaining 3 Marvel shows on Netflix.
