MIcrosoft CEO Phil Spencer officially announced that the next generation of XBOX Console is in the works. Dubbed “Project Scarlett”, the console will use Microsoft-customized AMD Navi and Zen 2 processors that will be 4x more powerful than the current XBOX One X. The new processor will be capable of up to 8K resolution and 120 frames-per-second. The newly developed SSD drives created for Project Scarlett is claimed to be capable of becoming “virtual RAM” for the console, allowing 40x performance increases of the current consoles, allowing developers to utilize the Project Scarlett for more dynamic landscapes.

Microsoft’s renewed focus on games is further accentuated by the sheer number of 1st party titles they will have in the coming years from the now 13 game studios they have acquired.
