Here's the new IMAX Poster for the new "Tomb Raider" film based on the popular video game series. The film stars Alicia Vikander (Lara Croft), Walton Goggins (Mathias Vogel), and Dominic West (Lord Richard Croft). The film follows Lara as she tries to unlock the mystery of her father's disappearance. Lara embarks on a treacherous journey to her father's last known location, a fabled tomb on a mythical island that might be somewhere off the coast of Japan.
Video game movies have struggled to be successful at the box office, and have failed to please critics and audiences. The most recent example of this is 2016's Assassin's Creed. The film only made $240M on a $125M production budget, and sits at an 18% critic rating and a 42% audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
I'm hoping that "Tomb Raider" can break the curse surrounding video game movies and become a widely popular and profitable film. Tomb Raider hits theaters March 16, 2018.
