Ruby Rose Has Been Cast As CW's Batwoman

by: James A. Barnes

Ruby Rose will be joining the CW Arrowverse as Batwoman.

It was previously reported that a Batwoman series was in development at the CW and that the character will make her debut in the next annual crossover event.

Caroline Dries has been tapped as the writer and executive producer on that project. Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter will executive produce the series via Berlanti Productions. Geoff Johns will also executive produce the series through his Mad Ghost Productions company and  Berlanti Productions will produce in association with Warner Bros. Television.

Batwoman (Kathy Kane) was created by writer Edmond Hamilton and artist Sheldon Moldoff. The character first appeared in Detective Comics #233 in 1956 as a love interest for Batman. In 1964 Batwoman and a few other characters were removed from Batman comics but were re-introduced in 2006 as Kate Kane who protected Gotham during Batman's absence during the events of 'Infinite Crisis.'

I personally think that Rose is a terrible chose to portray Kate Kane/Batwoman. Rose has had a string of supporting roles in film and television (XXX: Return of Xander Cage, John Wick 2, Orange is the new Black), but those roles had limited screen time and limited dialog to mask her subpar acting. I think that Ruby Rose will look great in the role and will be able to pull of the physicality of the character, but I don't think she has the acting ability to carry an entire series as it's lead.

Those are just my thoughts but what do you guys think about this casting news? Let us know in the comments below and stay tuned to Careful 4 Spoilers for updates on this developing story!
