The Suicide Squad Movie Review

“The Suicide Squad” was fun, bloody, and gives some much-needed shine to some lesser-known characters from DC comics. James Gunn has a true talent for making audiences care about his characters no matter how unlikeable some of them may be.

The biggest standouts for me were Bloodsport, King Shark, Peacemaker, Ratcatcher 2, Polkadot Man, and Harley Quinn.

Idris Elba’s Bloodsport and John Cena’s Peacemaker were absolute badasses, Margot Robbie was born to play Harley Quinn, and Viola Davis once again perfectly captures the soulless monster that is Amanda Waller.

The film starts off really strong with a fun action set piece but the second act drags its feet, the “villains” were just fodder, and the rest of the film is filled with pacing issues that make it feel a lot longer than it is.
