Jared Leto Set To Star As 'Morbius' In The Upcoming Spider-Man Spin-Off

Morbius The Living Vampire Is Coming To The Big Screen

Variety reports that Jared Leto is set to star in the new Spider-Man Spin-Off "Morbius". Sources have told Variety that Life director Daniel Espinosa is set to helm the film. According to Variety Leto has been in talks to play the role for some time now and Sony has finally made it official.

The script was written by Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama and the film is being produced by Lucas Foster, Avi Arad, and Matt Tolmach.

Morbius first appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man #101 in 1971 and was created by writer Roy Thomas and artist Gil Kane. Michael Morbius attempted to cure himself of his blood disease with an experimental treatment involving vampire bat DNA and electroshock therapy, when his experiment failed, he was changed forever & he soon found out he had superhuman strength, speed, accelerated healing, and a taste for human blood. Morbius has made several appearances in the comics and also appeared on "Spider-Man The Animated Series".

No release date has been revealed as yet but production is set to start later this year.
