Overwatch League Week 4 Stage 1

by: Bryce L. Jackson

Notable Matches

San Francisco Shock vs Seoul Dynasty

Looking at the overall standings, this matchup doesn't say much. But the match played out heavily in the Shock's favor as they handed the Dynasty another loss, 3-1. Between the Shock DPS and the Dynasty's lack of ability to remain a coordinated unit, the Dynasty continue to plummet down the overall standings and are already sitting precariously for Stage 4 Playoff contention. The Shock have looked amazing since their young group finally became age eligible and could be a great watch if they can make the Stage 4 playoff.

Boston Uprising vs Philadelphia Fusion

Boston and Philly were great to watch in Stage 3. When they met up in stage 4, it was two sides of a coin. Philly brought out a new Tank line with Sado now off suspension for account boosting and paired him with Hotba and gave Boston a look they were not prepared for on the way to a 3-1 loss. Boston didn't look like that dominant force after opening the match winning on King's Row. Time will tell if this was just a bad week for the Uprising or if the league has figured them out.

League Notes

After one week we got an idea with how Brigitte will affect how the league pays the game. In short: Not much. She's not a "must pick" and is optional or situational. Such situations such as Control or 2 CP as Dallas used her and tighter sections of escort like Dorado 3rd or Gibraltar 1st. The league still ran a ton of dive or quasi-dive team comps and double sniper (Widowmaker/Hanzo) reigned supreme at King's Row.
